Meanwhile the transfer silly season has started and West Ham are, according to today's papers, linked with Andre Schurrle, Alfie Mawson, Lamine Kone, Joe Allen and Danny Ings among others. The club has also reportedly made a £75 million offer for Dick Van Dyke who at 92 fits our age profile, but might fail the cockney banter test…

Oxford graduates back to West Ham?
According to today's Guardian Reece Oxford is now being recalled from his loan at Borussia Monchengladbach after RB Leipzig made a tempting offer to buy him for £8 million (rising to £17 million). So presumably Moyes has decided the young defender is worth another look. It's odd the way Reece's career has stalled after making such an impressive debut at Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2015. Bilic sold James Tomkins anticipating Oxford's advance, but them seemed to lose faith in him and loaned him out to Reading. Oxford's only made three league appearances for Borussia this season and at 19 he needs to realise his massive potential.
