Pond life
Still in shock at seeing Andy Carroll in a claret and blue shirt and what's more we seem to have stitched up Liverpool, with Brendan Rodgers believing he could sign Clint Dempsey only for the board to fail to offer the required £6 million. A rather worrying revelation in the press today is that Liverpool can recall Carroll in the January window if they choose to, though this would be a big loss of face for Rodgers. Meanwhile Big Sam explained that he offered Carroll the chance to be "a big fish in a small pond" at Upton Park. It's fair to say that West Ham are not as big as Liverpool, though we're not exactly a small pond. More a heated jacuzzi or Premier League hot tub, the sort of thing you might see for sale at an upmarket garden centre on the A127.

I had a horrible feeling that something like this was going to happen with Carroll's loan deal I was hopeful it wouldn't be possible but now they're saying it is you've got to imagine that the pressure is going to build until January. The grumbling has already started on their fan site and sky sports and the fans get to be so vocal these days thanks to the internet I don't think they can be ignored. We all better start praying they get some results through or we might be well and truly fucked.
For the time being though we look amazing and if you add Jarvis and Benny into that mix you might just start gettng dangerously ambitious.
Also wanted to mention that I grabbed your new book off Amazon after hearing you on the hammertime podcast and thought it was a brilliant read. Congrats mate I look forward to many more.
Really glad you liked the book James - good fun to relive all those finals again. Yes, it would have been better if Liverpool had got Dempsey, now there's big pressure on them to recall Carroll, though Rodgers has made it clear he does;t rate him. The worst case scenario is they sack Rodgers at some stage and bring in Harry Redknapp who would surely fancy Carroll back!

See I've heard that we paid Liverpool £1.5m for the loan which then means that they can't recall him at any stage until the season has finished. Some clarity would settle some nerves for us hammers as for the scousers, all they can do is hope.
I agree Jack, presumably if they did recall him our fee would be halved. WHU need to inform us if there is a recall clause.
BTW James, if you liked the book Flying So High then do put up a review on Amazon as they all help. Cheers!
