The loan arrangers?
Lots of transfer activity without anyone actually signing. West Ham have agreed a fee with Real Mallorca for defender Ivan Ramis, although worryingly that deal may now be gazumped. We've also agreed a £2 million loan fee for Andy Carroll, which would be a good deal for a season, though it all depends on the player wanting to come to Upton Park. And so far all the signs are that he wants to remain at Liverpool or join Newcastle, even if he has played under Big Sam before. We'd certain;ly have a threatening strike force if he did arrive, though at present a defender is what we need more urgently.

Threatening Strike Force? can you please remind me how many goals Carroll scored in the Premiership last season, yes he is Sam's type of player, but a Big No! from me.
(Think it was 35 appearances & FOUR GOALS)
We need to give up on players that aren't interested in us an well out of our price range an start looking at decent players at affordable prices!
Don't want Carroll. Expensive mistake and should never have cost anyone £35m nicer mind a £2m loan and then £17m (rumoured deal). He's a £6-£10m striker at best. we don't need another striker. Cole, Maynard, Baldock and Maiga is enough if injury strikes use the young lads giv them a chance. I like Kazim-Richardards on a free cos he's a right winger (which we need) an showed he's not too bad at Euro 2008(?). Couple of defenders in and a Benayoun n we will have a good squad with the young uns coming in when needed. Hope to see more of Morison this season too. And Potts.
To be fair it looked like we were gazumping Wigan, they were in there first, but now they got Ramis anyway. Supposedly because he understood Martinez' spanish better than Sam's "english"...
We got Collins back, though, which will be OK if he doesn't get injured again
I agree Jaybs that Carroll had a poor season, but he scored a lot of goals in the PL for Newcastle the season before and his cameo in the FA Cup Final proved that he's finding form again. Nowhere near worth £35 million, but might be a decent loan for £2 million. Thpugh as Anonymous says, no point if he doesn't want to play for us and can't really see we need him if Maiga proves to be any good.
