Farewell to Thilo

So Thilo Kehrer has gone on loan to Monaco for the rest of the season. He'll be remembered for coming on for Kurt Zouma in the Europa Conference League final and doing well, and of course for hollering "Irons!" at loud volume during the victory parade. But he seems to have fallen completely out of favour this season, ranking behind Zouma, Aguerd, Mavropanos and Ogbonna for the centre back spots and behind Coufal and Johnson for the right-back berth.

Thilo made quite a few mistakes after arriving at the end of the summer window for £10m last season, but did improve, though he suffered from the management never being quite sure if he was a centre back or right-back. As a German international he clearly wanted first-team football, but with WHU's squad so stretched he might actually have got some game time in January. Has the club given up on him too quickly? Good luck at Monaco, Thilo.

Yes. He is not the only player who has 'made mistakes' he also played well at other times and deserved more game time imo. As you rightly say we're stretched thin over the next couple of months. However, as I have no real knowledge of what goes on behind closed doors, I'll reluctantly give the management the benefit of the doubt.
I also enjoyed enjoyed his 'Irons' celebratory shout!

Sorry to see Kehrer leave West Ham
Happy for him to get first team football in a World Cup year.

Best of luck to him

Kehrer loaned for half a million and option to buy for 9 million is the worst of all worlds for Westham . Westham certainly need him now and With no obligation to buy , may have to try and sell him again in the summer . If he plays well that means Monaco buy him cheap and if not a lower offer comes in ( remember flaccid Vlasic and all that haggling ) . I expect Monaco to buy him and then sell him on for about 20 million because that's what Monaco does .

If they did buy for £10m we would at least get our money back, though as you point out Philip, no obligation. As supernumbersix says, we don't know what has happened behind closed doors, so perhaps Moyes has fallen out with him or doesn't want an unhappy player in the camp.
