Austin in, Jarvis out?

The Sunday Mirror suggests West Ham have offered QPR £11 million and Matt Jarvis in exchange for Charlie Austin. I'd be happy with that after the bad news that Enner Valencia is going to be out until Christmas with serious ankle and knee injuries. The 26-year-old Austin looks a natural goalscorer who can create his own chances. He gets tap-ins but can also shoot from distance too. He scored 18 goals in a relegated team and coming from non-league football and having once worked as a bricklayer he seems more well-grounded than the average Fancy Dan. While it's just not been happening for Matt Jarvis at West Ham and a change of club might do him good.

The problem with Austin is he's [so far] a bit of a one season wonder, making a value of £11m and Jarvis well over the top, regardless of your view of Jarvis. Will next season see a further improvement for Austin or a return to pub football standard?

I know plenty of us want to splash the cash and get him in, but QPR can afford play hardball now they've pocketed £10m from Man City's purchase of Raheem Sterling and don't 'need' the cash. Certainly if they think Austin's the man to fire them back up, why would they sell at all?

But then most of the Brazilian/Mexican/[insert obscure nation and/or exotic name here] candidates to lead our line are equally risky - but most of them are available on year's trial [loan] , so if they're crap we can send them back.

Whether Sully will want spend the equivalent of £15m (and the same again in wages) is doubtful in my mind. Why not try Lanzini alongside Sakho? Two non-target men with quick feet, good movement and able to maximise the new system of bringing the ball through midfield.

A one season wonder??. The bloke has scored 60 goals in the last three seasons, what more is he supposed to do?

Lazy comment Shane, this guy has scored lots of goals at every club he has been at. I saw him at Swindon and he is the real deal. He will score plunge for us and alongside Sakho should be our preferred strike force. I really don't give a monkey's nuts what he costs he will return that in goals, get him now!!!

Can we throw Nolan in with the deal. It is a trade that would be good for QPR and WHU

Austin scored a lot of goals during QPR's promotion season too Shane. He could be a one-season PL wonder but having worked his way up from being a bricklayer he's surely going to work really hard to ensure he stays a top striker. And I liked the way he would get shots in from anywhere looks a really good striker of the ball. Agree about Nolan DC Iron- with a bit of luck we can persuade Tony Fernandes he's worth £15 million!
