Taylor made?

Credit to Big Sam Allardyce, we've attracted a third Premiership player in Matt Taylor. Harry Redknapp rated him at Portsmouth, he did well at Bolton and he's got a great shot from long range. He could solve our left back problem and can also perform in midfield.

Blimey, I'm starting to feel optimistic...

Taylor started pretty well against Zaragoza, scoring one and hitting the post with a free kick; I think he will prove a useful signing. O'Brien looked OK, and may solve our right-back problem although I was surprised Alladyce has let Spence go back to Ashton Gate on loan. With the Boa Deselected, we are looking a little thin on numbers, even with Parker, Cole and Green still in the squad.

The most worrying thing about Saturday was the size of the crowd - really small. This is a club that needs some success, and fast...

Expect a lot of fans were on their holidays. If we can get a couple of early wins you'd hope we get 25,000 plus. If not, and it's all long ball, then apathy could really set in...

Clearly Allardyce prefers O'Brien to Spence and has surmised that Faubert is a better novelist than right-back.

Sending Spence away, does seem an odd decision. He looked promising & would certainly offered good cover at the very least. Maybe Faubert will become one of those players who seem to be mysteriously rejuvinated under certain Managers. Or maybe not....

I've often wondered what happened to Faubert, Phil. When he arrived for six million quid he was supposed to be a pacy winger who could beat players... now we don't even know his best position.
