Sam's town?

Horrible rumour on goal.com that we are considering sacking Avram Grant and replacing him with Sam Allardyce. Chris Hughton maybe... but not Big Sam. Never can a club and manager have been less suited...

Meanwhile today's Sun claims that Grant will "be read the riot act" by Sullivan, Gold and Brady and that the trio are unhappy with his "laid-back attitude". They can't be too happy either that he's asked for £10 million for new players having spent £6 million on Reid and Barrera.

We now have four games we should be capable of getting some points from in Blackburn and Fulham away and Everton and Wolves at home. If we keep losing though then surely Avram will be gone...

At this stage I couldn't care less about suitability. Our chances of survival are better with Allardyce than Grant for sure. End of story to me. If he will come, do it NOW!

Yes, Big Sam has a very good record, but I don't think it's worth throwing away 100 odd years of traditions for. I'm all for scoring from set-pieces, but the fans demand a passing game at Upton Park. And if he kept us up we'd be stuck with a manager no-one wanted next season on a long contract.

Even Curbishley might be a better bet - knows how to defend and keep teams in the division, and at least has some feel for the club. Or Roy Hodgson if he gets the tin-tack at Liverpool.

Whether or not Grant leaves, we're going down and we'd better get used to the idea. What's more important is a campaign to stop the cockney Waldorf and Stadler from taking us to the Stratford running track. Ironically, relegation may put a spoke in the wheel but we can't rely on it. If Stratford could be pulled down and rebuilt as a football stadium, then fair enough but the chances of that happening are roughly equivalent to the Boa Constrictor having a good game. So how do we stop it?
