Stewards enquiry
WHU might just have solved the problem of the running track at the London Stadium through the use of all those stewards at the Southampton game. All the extra bodies positioned in a square formation around the pitch lessened the sense of wide open space across the green carpet. Get a few thousand more stewards on duty and it will seem like the crowd are right up to the pitch, just like in the days of the Chicken Run. Not sure about the outfits though. The Daily Mirror reported that the pitchside stewards were wearing safety goggles and football boots with their luminous jackets — looking rather like a team of sporty, cycling welders.
