It's not the despair I can't take...
Well, Middlesbrough's win over Southampton means there's just that slight element of hope of making second place to keep Hammers' fans uncomfortable. A small irrational segment of my brain says what if West Ham won the last two games and the Southampton players, having all eaten dodgy lasagnes, underperformed against relegated Coventry, conceded a dodgy penalty and then couldn't get past an inspired goalkeeper. Of course this couldn't happen — could it?

simple answer is NO - because it is West Ham.....
Prepare for paly-off's yet again.
Yes, you're right. If only Saints had a more difficult game than a relegated side at home...
Yes, sadly looks unlikely now. (but a speck of light means I can;t 100% rule it out- just 99%) Now, if WE were in Southampton's current postion and they were in ours, you just KNOW we would lose to Coventry while they picked up 6 points from the last 2 games...
On a lighter note I see this "prove you aren't a robot" captcha has possibly come up with the name of a Hammers' summer signing - Oveducho Yedtart...
I think Oveducho Yedtart could do a job for us in the Championship, but his record in Uzbekistan suggests he may be a short of Premier League quality....And obviously international call-ups could be a problem, with a heavy World Cup qualifying programme.
Despite the win, I do think that was a lost opportunity last night, as it means Southampton now have to a team with one away win all season, and more defeats than goals (13). It means a draw for them is no real use to us...
That should be lose to a team, of course
As Chrissy said, if it was us we would definitely bottle it against Coventry and lose. Still, more pressure on them than us. The nightmare is Saints lose and we stumble to a 1-1 home draw...
Oveducho Yedtart could replace the departed Ruud Boffin in the silly name section on our squad sheet...
