Lack of signings so far means West Ham risk falling behind likes of Everton

There seems to radio silence around West Ham at the moment, with no transfer activity following the signing of Pablo Zabaleta on a free. It's early days yet, but it's still rather worrying that clubs like Everton (who finished seventh and should be the sort of club we'e competing with) have strengthened quickly.

Admittedly the Toffees are likely to sell Lukaku and Barkley so will have a lot of money coming in. But they've already signed keeper Jordan Pickford for £30 million, midfielder Davy Klaassen for £23.6 million and look set to sign strikers Sandro Ramirez from Malaga for £5m and Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eupen for £7million. While they're also rumoured to be about to buy Michael Keane from Burnley. You'd like to think West Ham have some big signings lined up for July and August, because our competitors are not standing still.

'likes of Everton'?? Everton are a far superior team than West Ham. This article should have said 'Lack of signings so far means West Ham risk falling behind likes of West Brom! Bullship Article!

not really a comparison when they now have the backing to spend money like chelsea and city

West Ham are an bottom half team that is struggling to compete with the likes of Southamptons, Stoke or West Brom - what player is going to want to join a club with a lifeless stadium, hooligan fans & no european football. There's a reason why you only got Snodgrass to replace Payet .
Enjoy another average season whilst your West Ham insider makes up bullshit stories about big name players you 'trying to buy'.

West Ham were way behind Everton before any new signings. How many times have West Ham finished above Everton in the last 10 years ???

This post seems to have attracted quite a few Evertonian wind-up merchants… for the record we finished sixth, above Everton in 2015-16. Yes Daniel, Everton have come into some money but so have WHU. West Ham now have a 57,000 capacity and if we are to get to the "next level" as Sullivan and Gold claim we need to use some of that new-found wealth, even if there is no billionaire backer. The top six looks very difficult to break into without a Leicester-type miracle so realistically Everton in seventh place is the sort of level WHU have to aim at. Leicester and Bournemouth have made decent signings in Begovic and possibly Ake, so we need to get a move on.

West Ham should count themselves lucky they are no longer a yo-yo team.avoiding relegation is about their level and should not be comparing themselves to other much bigger clubs.

The comment ''risk falling behind'' Everton baffles me - this suggests you aren't already? Please, don't take in the hollow rhetoric you're fed by your jumped up owners and believe it. You'll always be behind; just look at the head-to-head results if you need further clarification..!

There's no disputing West Ham had a poor season and finished below Everton last time - my point is that with all the new revenue, a new stadium and a decent set of signings the club could be aiming to match the teams who finished at the top of the teams below the top six, such as Everton and Southampton.

West Ham now have the opportunity to become a regular higher placed team. Whether the opportunity will be fulfilled only time will tell. They have more money then in the past and the future (financially) looks very sound. It's up to them now to deliver the promises made by the owners.
