Kante would be a risky signing

Lots of rumours West Ham are going to buy N'Golo Kante for £20 million. This would be a strange signing, more akin to the Harry Redknapp era, when 'Arry would try to eke out a coupe of seasons from players past their best. Yes, Kante was a great player at Leicester and Chelsea and had some fine games for France in the Euros. But I'm always wary of of buying players after a good international tournament - remember flops Ilie Dumitrescu and 'Two Bob' Florin Raducioiu? League form is a better guide. Kante is currently playing in Saudi Arabia, having been let go by Chelsea. Can he still stay fit for a full Premier League season? And where would this leave Edson Alvarez? Paying £20 million for a 33-year-old on big wages doesn't seem great business. Better to look for the next N'Golo Kante rather than the old one.

Totally agree with you, its a bit frightening with no transfers happening, we need a striker and another cb or wb and someone to cover the enigmatic Paqueta if he is banned! The transfer news channels are just churning out guessing rather than any facts.

Agree… I saw an update recently that we were going to bid 33mil for Kante. The guy is on 400k per week. Why would he come for a quarter of his wages to play in the hardest league in the world!! Crazy story…makes no sense.

Kanté for 15 mill is worth a punt but to pay more would not make sense to me. Need to trust in the Scarf and Ja-Lo to do the right thing

Kante would have to take a big pay cut to join WHU so at least that would mean he was keen. But we already have Alvarez and Soucek plus Ward-Prowse, and a younger player plus a striker is what we really need.
